Where do I go?
Parking
Our dedicated parking lot is located on Mountain Avenue and provides convenient access to the church. Visitors are encouraged to enter through the accessible Portico Entrance adjacent to the parking lot. Additional parking is also available in church-owned lots nearby and on streets surrounding the church.
Worship
As you enter the building, the Sanctuary and Chapel are located on the main floor. The Sanctuary is to the right through Kirk Hall, and the Chapel is to the right as you enter the sliding glass doors.
Childcare for infants through preschool is offered year-round, and is located on the main floor to the left through Kirk Hall.
Sunday School (September–May) classrooms for Kindergarten through 5th Grade are located on the top floor (take the elevator to floor 3). Middle and high school students meet in The Intersection, which is a house directly across the street from the Sanctuary, at the corner of Highland Avenue and 3rd Street.
Adult education classes are held in various rooms throughout the church school year Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. Greeters are happy to assist you in finding a class.
What do I wear?
You can wear whatever you are comfortable wearing to services at Second. Morning worship tends to be dressier than midweek Kairos worship, which is a casual, “come as you are” service. One member told her teenage sons that appropriate attire for Sunday morning was “a shirt with a collar.” That said, we are more interested in YOU than what you wear!
Is there someone who will meet me when I enter?
Every Sunday, members serve as greeters and gladly answer questions, provide information, and help you find your way to Sunday School classrooms or the sanctuary. Our Engagement Coordinator typically welcomes visitors at the parking lot entrance and makes a special effort to connect with newcomers. Because we are a large church, we encourage you to introduce yourself as a visitor so we can extend a warm welcome.
You can also find visitor information in brochure racks located at both the parking lot and sanctuary tower entrances.
Meet & Greet
During the program year, members gather in Kirk Hall for Meet & Greet (9:30–9:45 a.m.) before Sunday School. If you enter through the parking lot entrance, our greeters will welcome you and direct you to Kirk Hall, where you can enjoy refreshments, fellowship, and conversation. We look forward to getting to know you and helping you feel at home!
What about my kids during the worship service?
Nursery
We welcome children of all ages in worship. If you would like to take advantage of our excellent childcare services, we provide child-friendly nursery rooms for infants through preschool-aged children every Sunday morning. Our trained caregivers nurture children physically, emotionally, and spiritually while giving thoughtful attention to each child’s individual needs. We offer childcare during all morning worship services and Sunday School classes.
Children, Worship, & Wonder (CWW)
During the program year (September–May), children ages Pre-K through 1st Grade enjoy their own special time of worship and wonder at CWW (Children, Worship, & Wonder).
Following Children’s Time during the 11:00 a.m. worship service, children move to the CWW worship space on the third floor. There they hear the stories of our faith and worship God in ways that reflect their age and stage of development. Leaders present biblical stories within a worship experience that includes singing, response time, and “the feast.” Through CWW, we seek to nurture children’s innate sense of wonder and help them develop a deeper sense of awe and reverence for worship.
What Sunday School classes are available?
Growing together in faith is a mission at Second Presbyterian Church. Sunday School is held September through May from 9:45–10:45 a.m. (beginning Sept. 13, 2026). The best way to find out what’s going on in adult education is to attend our Rally Day Picnic & Fall Kickoff, visit the church website for up-to-date information on all of our classes, or talk to a pastor. Additionally, we offer a Christian Education brochure available in the church office or by request, which lists classes, content, and location.
*View the 2025-26 Christian Education Booklet for details about educational opportunities for all ages!
