Elizabeth holds degrees in science, art, and education from Southwest Community College, East Tenessee State University, and Hollins College. She spent 3 years in the U.S. Army as an Environmental Science NCOIC, worked as a research technician for Abbott Laboratories in Illinois, and was an epidemiology consultant for the Virginia State Health Department. Computers and design eventually took over, and she has been for Second Presbyterian since 1997 creating brochures, newsletters, webpages, etc. She also has a real estate salesperson license, and renovates houses. Her son, Paul, is majoring in computer programming and physics. She also has 2 dogs (Beowulf, a 135 lb. German Sheppherd, whose favorite toy is a five-gallon bucket lid, and Phoenix, who she rescued from a 3 foot chain) and one grumpy cat known as Hyper-cat, although he's not too hyper anymore.
