About the art . . . It is said confession is good for the soul. St. Augustine found it so in his confessions. My mixed media artwork reflects his confession, as an adult, of the theft of pears from an orchard when he was 16. He and friends stole the pears and fed them to some hogs. Augustine writes at length about the remorse he feels for this senseless act. The succulent pears and the thieving hand are depicted in the center, while the surrounding area represents the inner turmoil he feels. Texture and color help create the essence of this story. - Jane Winders Frank
